\u00bbMid-Career Artists\u00ab – dieser Begriff hat bei Vera Munro einen Zauber. Die Hamburger Galeristin, international renommiert f\u00fcr ihr \u00fcber die Jahrzehnte entwickeltes Programm, beschreibt damit ihre Strategie. Die \u00bbMid\u00adCareer Artists\u00ab haben bewiesen, dass ihr Werk keine Eintagsfliege ist, gleichzeitig liegt noch ein perspektivenreicher Weg vor ihnen. Doch wie erkennt man in der Flut der Posi\u00adtionen Qualit\u00e4t und Potenzial? Die traurige Antwort lautet wohl: Man hat das Talent dazu, oder man hat es nicht. Vera Munro ist auf der Seite der \u00e4u\u00dferst Talentierten. Ihr Ge\u00adsp\u00fcr macht sie zu einer Rosinenpickerin der K\u00fcnste, die von Hamburg aus in die Kunst\u00adwelt hineinwirkt. Sie ber\u00e4t Sammler, ist auf einigen der bedeutenden Messen vertreten und versteht es zugleich, in ihrem Heimathafen Hamburg Ausstellungsakzente zu setzen, die an anderen Galerien vorbeigehen.<\/p>\n

Dabei h\u00e4tte es auch ein anderer Standort wer\u00adden k\u00f6nnen: Fr\u00fch zog es sie als gefragtes Mo\u00addel nach London und New York. Ihre Auf\u00adenthalte nutzte Munro auch, um Kunst und K\u00fcnstler kennenzulernen. Sie baute ein Netzwerk auf, erdete sich mit einer kaufm\u00e4n\u00adnischen Ausbildung und vertiefte ihr Wissen durch ein Kunstgeschichtsstudium.
<\/span>Letztlich war es die Liebe, die sie in Hamburg hielt. Nicht zur Stadt, sondern zu ihrem zuk\u00fcnftigen Mann, dem Komponisten Nick Munro. So wurde sie mit ihrer Galerie heimisch und blieb. Die ersten Ausstellungen ab 1977 machte sie mit den Heroen der Avant\u00adgardekunst – mit Joseph Beuys, Cy Twombly oder Antoni Tapies. Sp\u00e4ter sp\u00fcrte sie gezielt K\u00fcnstler auf, mit denen sie zusammenarbei\u00adten wollte. Darunter waren G\u00fcnther F\u00f6rg, Helmut Dorner und Silvia B\u00e4chli.
<\/span>Die Galerie in Hamburg-Eppendorf er\u00ad\u00f6ffnete sie 1985, mittlerweile hat die Gr\u00fcnder\u00adzeitvilla eine Ausstellungsfl\u00e4che von 600 Qua\u00addratmetern, dazu geh\u00f6rt ein faszinierender Anbau im oberen Stockwerk. Lichtdurchflu\u00adtet wird er selbst zur Skulptur. F\u00fcr die Zusam\u00admenarbeit mit K\u00fcnstlern, f\u00fcr das gemeinsa\u00adme Kuratieren von Ausstellungen, hat sie eine kleine Wohnung eingerichtet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00dcber die Jahre ist das Galeriehaus zu einem eigenen Kosmos geworden. Einern Gravitati\u00adonszentrum f\u00fcr diejenigen, die das ernsthafte Gespr\u00e4ch und die intensive Auseinanderset\u00adzung mit der Kunst suchen. Wer hierher\u00adkommt, der will kein Galeriebesuchspro\u00adgramm abhaken, wie es anderswo oft der Fall ist. Das genie\u00dft Vera Munro und bringt ihren Besuchern als Dank eine ebensolche Wert\u00adsch\u00e4tzung entgegen.<\/p>\n
